My family is in the process of rebuilding our home after the flooding from Hurricane Helene, and working with Lee and the Iridium team has been exceptional. We decided to abandon the first floor and essentially build a new home on top, and everything has gone exactly as expected. Their pricing has been completely transparent with a pay-as-you-go model, which has made us feel comfortable and confident that we're getting exactly what we pay for.
The team has also been incredibly helpful throughout the permitting process. With so many homeowners looking to elevate their homes after the storms, there were a lot of unknowns, but Iridium guided us through every step. I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking to elevate a home out of a flood area—or to anyone building a new home in general.
I did extensive research on pricing for home lifting and new construction, and Iridium was by far the most attractive option. Not only were they one of the lowest-cost solutions, but they also allowed us to design the footprint we wanted. Anyone considering a home elevation project in St. Pete should strongly consider Iridium Development. I chose Iridium because of Lee Sewards’s extensive construction background and his expertise in elevating homes. He specializes in leveraging portions of the existing structure, which helps to minimize costs while maintaining quality. Lee is extremely transparent throughout the process. You have access to every bill, vendor PO, and a complete view of the project through their portal. I am in the process of building a "new" home with Iridium Development. I put "new" in quotes since we are actually building a second level on top of the existing structure that got flooded with Hurricane Helene. Lee Seward was the only builder that I spoke to after the event that was able to verbalize a clear plan on how to add a second level without demolishing the existing block structure. On top of that (pun intended), he was able to add 1000 square feet to our plan and create an entirely new layout. It took a while to get permits but once that was completed, the actual construction went very quickly. What is unique about Lee is that he not only has unsurpassed knowledge in new construction but is also a pleasure to deal with. He has a calm and confident demeanor, so any issues that did arise (which is unavoidable with any construction project) he handled quickly and creatively. In many cases, the final solution was better than the original plan. Iridium is able to provide true custom builds...if you can dream it up, they can build it. We have also enjoyed working with our project manager, Mikaela Bowman, who has kept everything organized and on track...and has done an excellent job communicating updates. Since we were out of town during the start of the construction, she even sent us pictures several times a week to show progress. I met Lee from Iridium Development Company about a year ago, after Hurricane Helene had dumped four feet of water in my home. I was in desperate need of help and completely defeated. Originally, I had applied to have my house lifted, but after years of being ghosted by FEMA, I was at a standstill.

When I first met Lee, I learned that he and his crew were pulling drywall out of damaged homes for free after the hurricane; a small gesture that spoke volumes about their integrity and dedication.

Lee brought a fresh perspective: building the new home on top of the existing structure. This made perfect sense because the original 1959 floor plan wasn’t ideal to lift, and it certainly wouldn’t have been attractive to a future buyer. His plan fortified the original structure while creating a brand-new home with a primary bedroom and bath, and even added an extra room by perfectly utilizing the space.

While building a home is never a quick process, Lee, Mikaela, and the entire team used humor, professionalism, and meticulous organization to make it an enjoyable experience. Now that the house is nearly complete, it’s clear that Lee’s 25+ years of expertise and attention to detail will pay off for years to come.
